Secretary’s Report June 2016

Secretary Report By Bo Cunningham

Summer is here and the fun has started at Cottonwood. Summer Team Play will play round 3 on Thursday June 23rd. There are four teams competing over the next 3 months. Each team has a roster of 11 to 12 players, It is not too late to sign up. Each team can benefit from an expanded roster. If you are interested in playing contact Johnny Cruse johnnylcruse@gmail.com and he will assign you to a team. Our next Masters Tournament will be held on Ivanhoe July 9th. The tournament includes a free breakfast buffet so mark your calendars. The Master Cup Standings have been updated so check them out on this website. We only have 5 more events left in the 2016 Master Cup Season, highlighted by the Club Championships in August. The condition of the golf course specifically Ivanhoe has been on the minds of many club members. The Good: The Sand Traps are playable and there is new fresh sand in half of the 13 traps. The Driving Range has be repaired.” The 50 Yards and In Program” is in progress. The Rough is under control. The Greens are rolling nice. Carts are slowly being repaired. The Ownership has asked for comments from the men’s club and we have responded. We are seeing the results of our comments. The Bad: The digging around holes 11/12/13/14 is still going on. This seems to be the lightning rod for all the complaints and frustration. Ownership told us this timeline for completion. 45 days from June 1st lake #12 will be finished. You will notice that that area now is being filled with clay, which is necessary as a sealer so it will be able to hold water. The completion date should be July 15th. If the 45 days projection is accurate, lake #14 will be completed around the first of September. Club Members, it is important to know, that your board of directors are working very hard to you benefit. We are in good communication with Ownership and Management. They are eager for our input and are willing to respond to our needs. This is a positive step in the right direction. Believe me when I say, things are heading in the right direction. Trust our board and stay positive. Good things will come in the near future. The glass is half full, not half empty.
