A gray, cloudy Saturday morning greeted 65 players at Cottonwood for the May Masters. The tournament committee had computer problems so for the first time in recent memory, we had no gross or net skins. Flight #1 was won by Tommy Neer who shot a net 64 to win by 6 strokes. Tommy also shot low gross for the day recording a 72. Mike Hayes fired a net 70 and won in a card off over David Cammall to grab 2nd place. Jory McEachern took 4th shooting a net 72. Flight #2 saw Brian Schow and Mike Keeney both shoot net 67’s. Brian won the card off taking 1st with Mike claiming 2nd. 3rd place went to new member D. Herrera who also won in a card off over Keith Jackson. Both players shot net 70. Flight #3 was captured by R. Robinson who fired a net 68. Paul Nachant took 2nd with a net 70, Jim Landstedt was 3rd with a net 71 and Ray Suprenant, who won in a card off over John Kline secured 4th place with a net 72. Close to the pins were as follows: #4 Ivanhoe, T. Neer 6’2”, #9 Ivanhoe Mike Keeney 9 inches, #12 Ivanhoe 6’2” T. Neer and #18 Ivanhoe Michael Allard 6’4”. The shot of the day was Mike Keeney who narrowly missed a hole in one on number 9. Mikes shot was rolling at the pin stopping just 9 inches short and for all you who are interested, Mike did make the putt. Thanks again to John Damron and Rob Blaemers for keeping the tournament running smoothly despite the technical problems. Coming up next is the Best Ball Tournament on Saturday May 21st. This is a Master Cup Event so make sure you show up with a partner to compete. If you don’t have a partner, e-mail Rob or John and they will place you with another player. The next monthly Masters will be Saturday June 4th and will include the popular breakfast buffet. I hope we see you all at the best ball in a couple of weeks. Be sure to check the 2016 Master Cup Standings that are now posted.
